Embrace:
if ever there was a word
encompassing just about everything you need
to get by in life,
surely it were this:
embrace life with both arms
not only to succeed, but thrive:
feel yourself embraced by love
then
seal it
with a kiss.

Merril is hosting dVerse Quadrille, and has asked us to write a poem of exactly 44 words featuring the word ‘Embrace.’ I spent a while trying to get the words into a heart shape, but block editor wasn’t having any of it, so I will try to post a heart-shaped poem on Instagram instead.
With love!
Ingrid
Lots of wisdom in this little quadrille! I really do love the word embrace and all it holds! 🤗
Thanks Tricia 🤗
What a wonderful seal in the end… but I feel the embracing is what matters the most…
Most definitely!
This is a joyous affirmation, Ingrid. Yes, embrace life, love, and all good things. Thank you!
You’re welcome – and thank you 🤗
I so love the wisdom in this one, Ingrid! Yes, the word certainly harbors everything that’s required to get by in life❤️
Sometimes we just need to remember to actually do it! ❤️
Most definitely! xx
I remember way back in the days of writing snail mail letters they were SWAK. I like this finish on your embracing poem, Ingrid.
It did cross my mind when I wrote this – those were the days 💋
🙂
I love that you sealed it with a kiss.
Well it is almost Valentine’s…
“then
seal it
with a kiss.”
This is so profound. I don’t know how to describe the sensation I felt when I read those final lines. I can’t really say my heart dropped, but rather my emotions were stunned by the break in structure and as well the profundity of these words. Embracing life is a must to conquering it in our various ways, and we must embrace the love we have been given to keep going. That is true and it’s easy to forget the impact that our loved-ones have in our lives. They mean so much to us, they are why life is easier to embrace. A very beautiful and mesmerizing poem, Ingrid. It’s emotionally striking and evocative to me; I’m still recovering from the shock of those final lines… 👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Lucy – I am moved that my words had such an effect ❤️

If you centre this it looks like a heart! Well, on Word it does. It might work on WordPress with single line spacing.
Embrace and encompass are such inclusive, huggy words! You need both arms to do them. :),
Perhaps I should have done something fancy with a mirror-image, but I don’t have those kind of skills! Thanks Kim 😊
I have tried to shape words into images too, without much success. Word processing stop gaps can be tedious.Your message comes through gang busters though, “Embrace” like “Love” is all we need.
Embrace is such a comforting sort of word. You can’t embrace with dark motivations. Never mind the format, the message came across loud and clear.
I think we all feel we’ve been prevented from embracing life in the past year. I know I miss the hugs of friends that used to end our times together. Such a simple gesture we took for granted, and will never take for granted again, I think.
No words needed, as an earnest embrace says all. But your word here, Ingrid, have the same effect. Thanks.
Thank you Ron 😊
short and sharp, what a delightful message in so few words!

Your wonderful words of wisdom ring loud and true! I could feel your heart in the poem without seeing it. Well done.
Thank you, Dwight, that is so kind! 😊
You are welcome!
A warm and inviting word, with a sprinkling of adventure too. 🥰 I embrace the message of your poem!

Beautiful expression of wisdom and adoration for life. And to seal it with a kiss is brilliant.
