It is the morning of another year
here in this temperate European land
while over in the Southern hemisphere
Autumn descends upon the scorching sand.
The new-day light entreats me go outside
while chatter of the birds also invites;
the song of nature echoes far and wide
and bids me join this dance of spring delights.
Each year remakes itself, old skins are shed
upon the freeze-thaw weathered winter ground
a tentative spring bloom raises its head
to seek the sunlight, from dark earth unbound:
And like the year, I find myself anew
when I think both upon this spring, and you.

Thank you for taking part in Sonnet Sunday!
I don’t know about you, but I feel renewed by all this Easter poetry! Thanks especially to all those who submitted poems to be included in this Easter celebration. It has been a fine day to celebrate one of my favourite poetic forms, the sonnet. I am planning another at the beginning of next month on the theme of ‘Mayday.’ Look out for further announcements!
‘upon the freeze-thaw weathered winter ground’ – how cool this is!
Frosty!

Love this! I feel the call of the second stanza to join in the delights of spring. And these two are great lines, “a tentative spring bloom raises its head
to seek the sunlight, from dark earth unbound”
