I hope Ivor won’t mind my little tribute
I was trying to emulate his style when I wrote this, as I so enjoyed his poetic updates on the progress of his book, Tullawalla, as he awaited the publication of the print version. I am happy to report that the print version is now available, and has made its way up the bestseller charts! A big congratulation to Ivor, it has been wonderful to share in the excitement of his journey.
As for my anthology, The Anthropocene Hymnal, I suffered a blow when the designer I’d been working with was unable to deliver the project. So guess what? I’ve spent the last week learning how to use Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop, and as a result I’m putting together a book design that I’m really rather proud of.
For all contributors and others awaiting the book’s release, I do apologise for the delay, but rest assured that something special is in design. Thank you for your patience, and please stay tuned for further updates!
Wow Ingrid. Well done in doing all that! And how wonderful about. Ivor. Wow
Thanks Lorraine: it has turned into quite a project π
It sounds like it Ingrid. Keep going β€οΈ
Thank you Ingrid for you shout out … and I am totally impressed that you’ve able design your book cover … awesome, and I am really looking forward to the results of your self-driven creative prowess … ππππ
I can just about see the finish line now Ivor π Always happy to give you a shout out! π€©
Well done Ingrid .. and the finish line is like trying to find the end of a rainbow π sometimes. ..
π so itβs not just me then? Good to know! π
You are multi-talented, Ingrid! Wow!π
I think the word might actually be βinsaneβ π€ͺ but thank you! π
I get it–like the time I thought working on two multi-volume books at the same time was a good idea. π

lol. what do they even drink in Slovenia? Some form of grappa?
We are surrounded by vineyards but I donβt touch the stuff these days.
Your work will be worth the wait. And I love this little poem that is born of recent experience… it will become for you one of those personal little treasures in time.
Thank you – itβs an anthology so I feel a sense of responsibility to all of the contributors to come up with something special!
Wow, that is so cool that you have taken up the design yourself!
Perhaps π€―π
Laughing! The word βperhapsβ¦β
Wonderful poem Ingrid and great news about Ivor’s book. You are so talented and so supportive of everyone.
xoxo
Thank you Gabriela π I try my best! β€οΈ
My pleasure π₯°β€οΈπΉ
Love your cheerful words, Ingrid, especially in the face of such a disappointment! May your skills continue to grow within the designs of both ink and digital interface. π
Thank you Jaya, I am getting thereβ¦
You always rise to the occasion! (K)
Now I am under pressure – Iβve never done anything like this before π
Deadlines were always the bane of my work. But actually getting started was often the hardest part.
A great Ivor Poem! I am sure you can do as well as your former designer would have done!
Well the big difference is I really care about the project, which is perhaps the most important thing!
And they do it only for production!
How fun! Your poem not only mentioned dancing, it felt like a joyful dance. My experience with InDesign felt more like hair pulling, but I did learn a little each time. Sorry to read about your design frustrations, but no doubt your personal touches will surpass theirs! Can’t wait!! π π€
Congrats to Ivor! That is very exciting!!ππΌ
Did you use it to create your Being a Woman collection? They do have a beautiful presentation and finish so I think you did great πππ
Yes, Sam and I did. We shared files – I added the poetry and she did the art and titles. It was definitely a process. Once completed, I saved as a PDF file for the paperback copies and used another program for the eBooks. The covers are separate files. Phew! Thank you! We learned a lot. π
Yes, that sounds similar to what Iβm doing! My dad is sending me illustrations, but Iβm having to edit those as well to fit them in the book using photoshop π€¦π½ββοΈ
I also used photoshop to edit Samβs drawing for the ebook versions. I feel you. We just want write! π
At least making my own books should be more straightforward in future now Iβve learned what to do π
This is so true. We learned more each time. We didn’t quite have the file sharing down with the first one, so figuring that out helped. Now the challenge will be remembering everything when I do that again. π Marketing is another subject that I am clueless on!
Oh that is going to be a lot of work and Iβm also trying to plan that in parallel with making the book. Also Iβm not allowed to market it as a charity book without permission from WWF so thatβs another complication π but weβll get there π³πβ€οΈ
Multitasking master! π You are getting there… one page at a time! π
Are they your dadβs original drawings? How cool!
Yes! I am lucky to also have an artist in the family π₯°
It is a blessing. π A project that is strengthening your bond and will be made even more special by your dad’s contribution. I am so excited for you two and to read your collection! Will you have a paperback copy?
I will have a paperback and maybe even a hardback option! I will update you once I have a publication date β€οΈ
Awesome! Thank you. π
Oh wow! This is truly impressive. And a lovely Ivor-poem! π
Thank you Punam π I love Ivorβs poetry! β€οΈ
You are welcome. So do I! β€οΈ
What an amazing poem and gift to Ivor! πππ nicely doneπππ
Thank you Cindy! Iβve had enough of book designing now. Completely over it π€ͺ
I bet you have… It’s going to be amazing especially with pictures from your father. Can’t wait to read itπ
Thanks Cindy! Iβm really hoping to push it out by August (it actually feels like giving birth LOL) so I can enjoy my vacation π
It’s truly a birth and you go girlπππ
just don’t kill yourself in the processπ
Great advice Cindy thank you ππ€―π Iβm not American but Iβll be giving myself tomorrow off anyway π₯³
You’re welcome… well, I know you’re not American but anything to get us to take a break is a good day to celebrate for us junkies. Sent you an email but it came back.. no clue why.. πππ·π
Itβs experimentsinfiction@protonmail.com β€οΈ
thanks dear.. i’ll try again. π
Wonderful tribute. I’m glad I read this. I’ve been reminded of my audio which I’ll send Monday.
Thank you Jude, I really appreciate it! π
