Second Place in the Woman: Splendor and Sorrow Poetry Competition!

I was delighted and really quite bowled over to learn that my poem, ‘Event Horizon,’ had placed second in the poetry competition hosted by Gabriela Marie Milton to celebrate her poetry collection Woman: Splendor and Sorrow. The poem was inspired by Gabriela’s poem ‘You in Another Life.’ Here is a taster:

Event Horizon

In another life
we were lovers:
don’t you feel it?
Somewhere beyond the limits of the sea

we set sail hard for the horizon,
hard to tell if we should sink or fall
over the precipice
for sure, we fell…

Please head over to Gabriela’s site to read the rest of the poem, and the other winning entries, which are truly stunning. Special congratulations to first place prizewinner Virginia Mateias!

I have been travelling and therefore absent from the blogosphere for the last few days. It may take me a while to catch up with reading and commenting, so please bear with me!

Special thanks to Gabriela for hosting the competition, and serving as an inspiration to our online poetry community through her critically-acclaimed poetry and her tireless dedication to supporting emerging poets!

  2. It’s so true what they say: The more you praise and celebrate life, the more life there is to celebrate. (Don’t know who said that) Amazing, Ingrid. Keep going, dear friend. I celebrate you and all the winners.
