Poetry of ordinary life is what I live for
I said, you said,
‘Me too, Babe, me too’
I said, ‘Really, when you look around
it’s everywhere:
caught in the branch of a tree, just
shooting the breeze
drifting the air.’
‘It’s in you,’ you said
I said, ‘it’s in you, too:
that’s where we meet
at the boundaries
exploring ordinary things
rendering them
extraordinary.’
Confetti cut-out words
collaged into miniature worlds
vast distances to be explored
whose inner space is
limitless.

Tonight, Sarah hosts Poetics, where she invites us to be inspired by the names of paint colours, and use this as the basis for a poem. I chose the name ‘Confetti…’
I love this, Ingrid the conversational tone, the intimacy.
Thank you Sarah 😊
Such an intimate conversation, Ingrid. Love it. ❤️
Thank you Punam 🥰
My pleasure 🥰
Your last stanza is a poet’s life, defined. To share that connection and understanding with another is sublime. 💞 Wonderful work, Ingrid!
Thank you, Michele, I am glad you can relate 💕
“that’s where we meet
at the boundaries ”
Without crossfire. Oh world let there be peace
Much💜love
Indeed! 🙏
I like that change from ordinary to extraordinary things. I love it when the inner space is limitless.
I was fascinated by a video I saw once which showed how on a universal scale, the distance within us is greater than the distance from us to the furthest star!
Finding the extraordinary in the familiar is poetry.
Indeed it is!
Within you, without you.
Lovely work, Ingrid.
Thanks Nick!
I really love this one, Ingrid!! Fantastic!!
Excellent expression of relationship Ingrid — on point! 🙂
Thank you Rob!
I adore the expansiveness you create here, Ingrid. Beautiful!

I really like the last stanza especially.
(and I love this album–now I have to find it so I can listen to it) (k)
Glad you enjoyed both! Sone music from my teenage years 😅
It is in such sharing that we discover our precious commonalities. Beautiful poem, Ingrid! <3

Love this idea Sarah of making oneself creative!
Hank
Thank you Hank!
Beg your pardon, correction
Love this idea Ingrid of making oneself creative!
It’s ok – I’ve done it before 😅
I like this poetry of the every day and movement to the extraordinary. I especially love the last stanza.
(I use to love a show called Ally McBeal, and Vonda Sheppard sang on it.)
Thanks Merril – that’s where I got the song from 😅
Great minds! 😅
Love this – the ability to see ‘ordinary things, rendering them extraordinary.’
That’s what we do! 🥰
I wonder…is a poem inspired by a song considered ekphrastic? Anyway, I really love this one, Ingrid!
Thank you! Now you’ve got me wondering 🤔
“Confetti cut-out words
collaged into miniature worlds
vast distances to be explored
whose inner space is
limitless.”
If that is not the definition of a writer I do not know what is. Making the ordinary, extraordinary – yes. This is lovely Merrill.
Thank you Raivenne I (Ingrid 😅) wrote it in honour of a very talented writer!
I love this. It is everywhere, isn’t it? I chose confetti also.
Thank you, Mary – I will check back and read 😊
Sio true. Our inner worlds are limitless, and we can explore to our heart’s content!
