I took his name
wore it a while
till it no longer suited me:
which time I tried on a new grace and style
arrayed with poise,
and quiet dignityΒ
knowing that those who see my light
would not seek to diminish me
I will my song be heard by those attuned
to hear the music in this well-healed wound

This is how I felt in my first marriage. I was carrying dead wood. I had a lot more growing up to do once I dropped that load. Everything is a gift.
