It’s Sunday morning in the UK and Europe. Time for some good old-fashioned British patriotism, to the tune of Elgar’s ‘Land of Hope and Glory:’
Land of bacon and curry,
Land of endless rain;
Land of friends and family:
Land of joy and pain.
Land of immigration,
Land of racism;
Land where politicians
Talk mainly out their bums.
Land of Boris and Brexit,
Land of quarantine;
No one understands it,
Not even our dear Queen.
Land of isolation
And parties in the street;
Land of deep division
Yet still we call it great.
Land of separation, and
Insularity;
Land of Monty Python
And endless cups of tea:
I love you and I hate you
In equal measure it’s true;
I live my life in exile
Still I belong to you.
