Locked down on La Costa with the Covid Blues Again

I thought I’d have a bit of fun today. A tribute to Bob Dylan on his birthday thanks to Nick Reeves for the prompt.

El Gobierno draw circles
On a map and call them plans
I would ask them what they’re thinking
But they wouldn’t understand
And Los Civiles treat me kindly
They didn’t yet give me a fine
But deep inside my heart
I know they will in time.

Oh, Mama, can this really be the end?
To be locked down on La Costa

With the Covid blues again.

Well, Shakespeare, he’s on my kindle
On my homeschool timetable too
He’s teaching my son English
And he’s teaching me it too
And I sent a message
To the teacher at the school
Saying I’m going to teach Shakespeare
Even if you don’t want me to.

Oh, Mama, can this really be the end?
To be locked down on La Costa

With the Covid blues again.

My husband tried to tell me
To avoid Lidl at lunch time
He said there’s no social distancing
In the checkout waiting line
And I said ‘Oh I didn’t know that’
But then again one stupid guy
Coughed near me without a mask
So I punched him in the eye.

Oh, Mama, can this really be the end?
To be locked down on La Costa

With the Covid blues again.

Many people died last week
I wish they hadn’t but they did
Because our governments didn’t act fast enough
Facing up to this ‘Covid’
And now we all have to listen
To how well they were prepared
When deep inside our hearts
We know they were shit-scared.

Oh, Mama, can this really be the end?
To be locked down on La Costa

With the Covid blues again.
