Shattered – A new #poem #published

Today, I am honoured to announce the publication of two of my poems, ‘Shattered’ and ‘The Last Best Pisstake’ in the anthology BeautiFUl Ways to Say… This anthology was compiled and edited by Katie Elizabeth, and is available from Amazon. All proceeds will go towards helping victims of domestic violence. I am very proud to have taken part in this worthy project, which uses art to support survivors and to honour those who can no longer speak.

Shattered

Shattered: like glass in a windowpane
The clavicle
The collarbone
The night I left
The break was worth the pain
The night I struck out on my own

Shattered my nerves
Battered my face
Bruises first purple are yellowing now
Broken your power
Granted, my grace
To walk out of the door, to take courage and go

Shattered, unsheltered
And yet unafraid
I take my first steps in a new life alone,
Shattered your image
Inside of your cell
Knowing never again will you find your way home.
