Guest Post: ‘Wavemaker. But…’ by Don Matthews

Today, I am proud to be hosting Don Matthews at EIF.

Don is an Australian writer who’s work is different to the ‘norm’. He focuses on rhyme with content taken from humour, serious, nonsense, absurd etc. I recommend exploring his site ‘Flippant, Comic, and Serious’ for poetry with a difference: The Flippant, Comic, and Serious

Wavemaker. But…

It seems I’m known for making waves
And pushing boundaries
But staying in my comfort zone
I lose creativity

Don’t want to write just ordinary-like
‘Bout flowers and flowery fluff
I want to branch out, be myself
Write boundary-pushing stuff

How can a poet improve oneself
By staying in a rut?
But some of you may disagree
Come back to me with… but

Don Matthews June 2019

As Don himself put it: ” As long as we allow convention to govern us we will never make progress.” I would like to thank Don for his contribution, and for his support in the recent Capitalisation Controversy debate.

Contribute to Experiments in Fiction

I am looking for experimental fiction, flash fiction and prose poetry to feature on my site. Please contact me by email if you would like to contribute.
