Quick coffee and then
clean the toilet
quick coffee and then
wash the clothes
Quick coffee and
keep everybody happy
quick coffee, do
as every woman does:
What of my dreams
and my desires
which would read something
like this?
Quick coffee and
write poetry
quick coffee and then
read all morning long:
Quick coffee, kiss the children
quick coffee, wipe their faces clean
quick coffee, try to focus my attentionΒ
quick coffee, quietly teaching them
the value of a dream.

I’m busy with the kids this half-term. I’m thoroughly enjoying embracing the chaos, but it’s also exhausting: not so much the kids as the work which arises around them. I’m no domestic goddess. I have to keep my writing going and sometimes I feel guilty, but I’ve noticed my eldest particularly is keen to emulate. If I can foster a love of literature and writing in them, I guess I’m not doing so badly. And thank God I have a dishwasher and a Roomba!
Now back to baking biscuits for Halloween π π π
π» π» π» Don’t forget! Today is the last day to enter the EIF Poetry Challenge: Halloween Special (deadline is midnight CET tonight) π» π» π»
Love it with a long coffee, ah retirement.
Haha, enjoy π βοΈ
Great poem. Now, get back to that baking and think about your poor, starving children!
No way theyβre starving, more like overloaded with sugar! π« π π¬
You can’t beat kids on a sugar hit!

P.S. I have just emailed you all the entries so far π
Great πππ
Thank you π
Your welcome ππ
Love this poem mostly because I can relate! For the applaudable effort of simply doing, I call you a domestic goddess. π
I did bake cakes today π§

This poem reminds me of my mother β€οΈ Heart touching! I loved it.
Oh that means a lot to me – I hope my kids appreciate it when they get older!
