I’ve written rather a lot of poetry since March of this year, when the pandemic really started to take hold worldwide. I think the lockdown gave me the creative space I needed to connect with my poetic muse. I often take excerpts from my poems and make them into ‘poetry cards’ to share on Instagram. I had a look back at these cards, and found they made quite an evocative slideshow, so I’m sharing this today in honour of a strange year which brought me back to poetry. You can find most of the poems quoted here in the EIF poetry archives. If a particular poem is missing, that’s because I plan to feature it in a forthcoming publication.
Watch this space for more of my poetry in 2021. Also look out for me on Twitter, where I will be attempting to Tweet one new and original poem for every day of the forthcoming year!
This is a welcome post because discovering yourself in poetry is a beautiful thing! Best to you Ingrid!
It certainly is! All the best to you also, John!
Here is a further challenge – do it in response to a daily prompt!
š I might use some of the Twitter prompts if Iām stuck for inspiration…
Your poetic posts are little gems of imagery. Looking forward to reading more of them.
You have been busy! A beautiful and creative video you created. šš¼
The videos are a new thing but Iām sure with practice I could make some really nice ones – thanks!
Lovely slideshow, Ingrid! <3 What a great post for New Year's Eve!
Thank you Cheryl, Iām glad you enjoyed it ā¤ļø
It amazing to see the volume of work you have produced this year. I love the slide show but it is too quick to read the poems. I remember some of them but would enjoy reading again. The images and presentation are perfect. Could you produce this as a book? I guess copyright on photos maybe a problem but I would love to have a physical copy. You should be really proud of what you have achieved this year. Your creativity is on fire!
Thank you so much Deborah! If you try pausing the slide show you should be able to stop it on any you want to read…these photos are all either free to use or I paid for the license to use them. I am planning to publish some poetry but I never thought of using the images…until now!
I hope you do because I would love to hold a copy of a book which had each of these slides as a page. I will do as you suggest and watch again stopping each slide. Maybe I could have a slide a day on my desktop? They have so much potential as they are beautiful! Well done.
Thank you Deborah, I didnāt think about that but now you have got me thinking! Happy New Year to you ššāļø
I haven’t signed up for Instagram, because I’ve always felt I do enough social media, but you do it right, with breathtaking images paired with poems. This was so enjoyable to watch! āØ
To be honest I donāt engage with Instagram enough to build a large audience, so I use it more to add an extra dimension to this blog!
It’s been a ride!
Happy New Year, Ingrid
xx
And to you Nick! š„³šš„
