Thank you to editor Gabriela Marie Milton for publishing my poem at MasticadoresUSA today. I am truly grateful for the support and encouragement Gabriela has shown me during my time writing poetry on WordPress. I know that Gabriela is very busy professionally, but she always takes the time to offer kind words of support to emerging poets. It is also a huge honour to be a finalist in her Woman: Splendor and Sorrow competition, alongside 12 other hugely talented poets. Gabriela is not judging the competition, but it is inspired by her #1 bestselling poetry collection!
My poem, ‘Beautiful Things’ is very short, so I’m not going to reproduce it here. I encourage you instead to visit MasticadoresUSA to read it and support this fantastic literary venture. I can tell you a little bit about the poem, though: I wrote it at sunrise some time last week. The start of the day is always a magical time for me: a time of hope and promise. I take time to salute the sun whenever it is visible. If you like yoga, or even if you’ve never tried it and you’re looking for a gentle way in, here’s a great 10-minute routine:
A gentle and lovely poem, Ingrid, that sits with me as I watch the sun rise over the autumn mountains!
How lovely! Thank you Jaya 🌅
Congratulations, Ingrid! Lovely.
You know I love early mornings, too. 😀
Thank you Merril! I am enjoying your early morning photography 😊
You’re welcome, and thank you! 😀
Wow, girl– just so lovely. I read it at Masticadores and commented:
beams, burns, and blazes: powerful words for this poem that reads like a slow sunrise. Love it. Thanks so much for sharing it. Tremendously beautiful. May this one blaze far and wide. Always.
Aww, thank you so much Selma 🤗
A glowing pearl of encouragement. Gorgeous photo of daybreak. Love this, Ingrid! <3
