Festive Sonnet Sunday: A Laden Sleigh by Nick Reeves

A laden sleigh on this Christmas Eve
Riding high over rooftop and stream
Is magical to those who believe –
Children and lovers and sleepers in dream

*

Let’s dress the trees with tinsel and bows
Let them clothe us with black forest smells
Snowflakes and moonbeams will fill the windows
And all will ring with baubles and bells.

*

On the stair the children are peeping
The grown ups sing an old xmas song
The reindeer above are all leaping
We’ve waited for this all year long

*

From the east comes this Christmas Day
And from the north comes a laden sleigh.

A Sonnet of Christmas Magic!

What lovelier way to round off Festive Sonnet Sunday than with this sonnet of festive delights, from Nick Reeves, former EIF Poetry Challenge champion and weaver of words of wonder? Thank you, Nick, for this message of festive cheer!

I think that little else remains to be said but

Merry Christmas to all,
and to all a Good Night!
