Spring

Spring, once again spring,
outside our window, starlings sing
as light takes on a gold-green glow
somehow I know (somehow I know)
that new life is awakening
I sense a stir — a quickening
and all things turn towards the light
as well they might (as well they might).

Day breaks like the waves
upon the beach, through tide-washed caves,
carving the secret codices
of centuries, and centuries.
The birds’ refrains rise through the staves
bursting beyond the high octaves
to reach the sky and fill the air
with sound so fair (a sound so fair!)

Blood rush to the head
around the bay, upon the bed
within a cove, beyond, above
our lays of love (our lays of love):
life flows — it is said —
as each to every vein is wed,
so heaven, through our joys and pains,
is born again, again, remains.

The season of music and lyrics…

My favourite time of year, and the perfect time to continue work on New Lyricist magazine. Thank you to all who have submitted in the prose/photography/artwork category. Remember, you have time until 24th March to submit your work.

Enjoy the first signs of spring!

Ingrid
