Frightful Fun by Benji #SonnetSunday

At Halloween, I’d like to meet a ghost
because they’re spooky and exciting too:
a knight-in-armour ghoul would thrill me most;
I wouldn’t be scared, even if he said,’Whooo!’

I’d like to take a ride on a ghost train
with a headless driver and skeleton staff
serving mice and rats fresh from the drain
with witches’ brew to make passengers laugh.

I’d visit a haunted castle just for fun
with monsters hiding under every bed:
You might be scared, but I would never run
even from a horseman who had lost his head…

This is my favourite part of Halloween:
Imagining frightful things that make you scream!

A fun-filled sonnet from Benji the Brave!

Benji, our youngest sonneteer, at 8 years old, has written this frightfully good sonnet about his favourite Halloween treats. And as he asked for a ghost train, here’s a special song just for him…

  1. This is super fun. Wow. And he’s the bravest. I sure would be far gone if ever there was a headless horseman or a ghost around. Jeez. Gone…
    Thanks for writing this Benji. You’re so cool.

  2. Wow, Benji! What nightmares I will have tonight after reading about a headless train conductor and haunted castles with ghosts hiding under the beds! I will try to remember to be brave!
